Tattoo in My Future?
I am bit of an adventurous type. I love the adrenaline rush of doing something crazy and unexpected. Even in college I pulled off so many crazy pranks, I’m surprised the campus police never arrested me. They used to call me “Double D” back then – Dare Devil. It also was an inside joke with my friends for my history of dating blondes who were quite “voluptuous”.

But even with my risk taking, hard-partying and Harley-riding life of excess, there was still one thing that I couldn’t bring myself to do that would symbolize my life on the edge: getting a tattoo.

I wasn’t exactly scared. Try jumping out of a plane when you’re 18 or Bungee jumping on your 21st birthday and you probably won’t fear much else that comes along in life. It was just that I was so indecisive about it.

One day I’d want this fancy colorful Chinese Dragon design, and the next I’d want the pale blue sailor tattoos from back in the day. It was just too many to choose from, and as bad as I am about making big decisions, I just couldn’t come up with a particular pattern that I could happily exhibit on my body until the day I die.

There were many times when I came close to getting one. There was this college spring break trip to Mexico my sophomore year. My friends and I got so drunk and we decided to go get tattoos together. My friends eventually ended up with some crazy designs that were partly because the guy with the needle was as equally intoxicated. As for me, I was so disorientated, I accidentally walked into the adjoining brothel and passed out at the bar. I had to be dragged out by the barman. My friends found me lying on the street the next morning, and were quite surprised that I had no tattoos on my arms.

Since then I’ve thought about it often. I’ve passed many tattoo parlors, watching the artist carefully working on his canvas that is human flesh, wondering how great it would feel on my skin.

It’s exciting, but what do I get? It’s like standing at a Ferrari showroom but not knowing which Ferrari you want to drive away in. I guess it’s something I’ll get around to some day, when I eventually make up my mind.

Buy a painting instead. Then you can always change it if you get bored of the design. =P
